The competition-between-fundraisers possibility hadn't occurred to be, but could definitely counteract the phenomena I wrote about.

Jonathan: Thanks for the link. I agree with their assessment that, assuming the paradox of choice exists, we shouldn't necessarily limit choices. Although I think in some circumstances, such as Movember, it could result in objectives (e.g. raising the most money possible for charity) being achieved. But the lit review they link to sounds very interesting; I'll give it a read when I have some time.David Karphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13710657164031182109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4737479797606051454.post-5404936381917723942010-11-17T20:37:04.292-05:002010-11-17T20:37:04.292-05:00Interesting post, David. However, if you look at the competitive nature of keeping track of how much money you raise individually, then that might benefit them. Most of the people raising money by growing a moustache are males. Most males are competitive, especially with other males. So, maybe this competition of who-can-raise-more-money will end up with raising more money.meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14888150447633425696noreply@blogger.com
